Inaugural Recommendations by: David Johnson
Dr. Strangelove Every god fearing American needs to make sure they understand the reality that the Government is indeed run by a bunch of incompetent morons and a man who cannot control his right had as the architect. Although outright hilarious throughout most of the film, Dr. Strangelove has just as much social and political bearing today as it once did. Taxi Driver Sure to fulfill any rage you might be feeling against the current government, Taxi Driver remains an extremely controversial film today. Brutally honest in it's portrayal of a war veteran, it shows only too clearly the insanity behind 'moral cleansing.' Seven If George Bush didn't come from a rich family, with the ability to kill 100,000 Iraqi civilians he'd probably spend most of his time hunting down the wicked and finding creative ways to humiliate them outside of a military prison. Metropolis While film today struggles with deciding if two characters should fall in love at the beginning or the end of the film, we have to remember that film once came into being asking questions at the very heart of our beliefs. Garden State/In Good Company/Lost in Translation It's hard to end a day feeling like the world is going to end and that you are going down with the ship. And although all these films will probably convince you that the ship is going down, there's something comforting about knowing that despite all the depression around you, there's a way out of it and you'll find your place among the rubble.
So enjoy protesting George's inauguration, and despite revealing my overwhelming bias, I hope these recommendations where useful. |
